It's that time of year! We all gather round and share what we're thankful for...
Gratitude. It’s a small word with such a huge impact. And in business, we say thank you on this day, but how often do we say thank you throughout the year? In the hustle and bustle of running a business, it’s easy to get caught up in chasing goals, solving problems, and pushing forward.
But when we take a moment to pause, reflect, and appreciate, something incredible happens—we unlock the ability to deepen connections, inspire others, and create an enduring sense of purpose.
One of the biggest things we've prioritized since we launched Automation on a Mission was a place to build community. And what comes from gratitude but a sense of belonging, and gratitude.
While I'm sure we miss the mark sometimes, we strive to make sure that gratitude is woven into everything we do. It’s not just about being thankful for our successes but also recognizing the incredible journey our clients take and trusting us to be part of their growth.
Gratitude goes beyond a polite “thank you” email. It’s a mindset and a practice that fosters stronger relationships, builds trust, and creates a positive ripple effect. Here’s how gratitude plays a vital role in your business:
1. Strengthens Client Relationships
When you acknowledge the trust your clients place in you, it deepens their loyalty and connection to your brand. Showing gratitude reminds them they’re more than a transaction—they’re a valued partner.
When I teach about the customer journey, I often see this as one of the most overlooked and undervalued parts of the process. We get so focused on the next lead that we forget the simple act of saying "thank you" to our current clients. Practicing appreciation should be easy, yet it’s something we often miss.
Showing appreciation for hard work keeps your team inspired, engaged, and aligned with your mission.
As a leader, I make it a priority to express gratitude to my team during our weekly calls. Whether they’re behind the scenes or front and center, they are the magic that makes this business run. I make it a point to let them know how much I value their contributions and how grateful I am that they choose to spend their time with me.
Gratitude shifts your focus from challenges to opportunities, reminding you of the bigger picture and how far you’ve come.
Whether it’s leaving a positive comment on social media, thanking our loyal members, or sharing teary-eyed gratitude during team calls, I’ve found so much value in practicing appreciation. Gratitude feels like hugging a puppy—(just without that puppy breath - ahhhh!). Warm fuzzies are felt by all and we need more of that in our lives!
One moment that stands out for me recently was receiving a screenshot of a text from a member. After teaching something that comes so naturally to me and totally gets me energized, one member was blown away by how what she learned transformed her business. It opened her eyes to not only what her next steps are, but how to get there, opening her vision up to so many new possiblities she never considered before!
It was humbling to be reminded that even the smallest nuggets can have a huge impact. That all my focus on helping people understand we are more than just technology but the whole shebang, really matters! I saved that screenshot because it means a lot to me.
Gratitude isn’t just a feeling; it’s an action. Here are simple ways to infuse gratitude into your daily business operations:
Celebrate Small Wins: Acknowledge progress, not just outcomes, whether it’s completing a new automation or getting through a tough week. Look for the lesser known places that you can practice gratitude on yourself and your team.
Appreciate Your Clients: Go beyond transactional relationships. Send a thank-you note, check in on their successes, or offer a small token of appreciation. Get on social and share your wins you're creating with your clients (with their permission of course!) and make sure that they know how much you value their loyalty, trust and willingness to work with you and do this often, not just when they sign up or when their next bill is due.
Cultivate a Gratitude Practice: Start your day by listing three things you’re grateful for in your business—whether it’s a supportive client, a reliable tool, or a lesson learned. Want to go the extra mile, start a gratitude jar and put your gratitudes in the jar and watch it get filled. It's an amazing tool to shift your mindset and can even be a resource for those hard days when you need to be reminded of the magic you're creating in your life and those around you.
Give Back: Share your gratitude by paying it forward. Offer a free resource, host a giveaway, or mentor a fellow entrepreneur.
In our experience, gratitude isn’t just a feel-good concept; it’s a growth strategy. Clients stay longer, refer more often, and advocate more passionately for your business when they feel genuinely appreciated. And when you consistently show up with gratitude, it becomes contagious, spreading through your team, clients, and community.
At the heart of Automation on a Mission is a deep appreciation for our clients’ trust and hard work. We don’t take it lightly that they choose us as partners in their success. And for that, we’re endlessly grateful.
